Eight hours formatting the most basic HTML (something I have done ad nauseum) due to some apparent UTF-8 glitch : em dashes, en dashes, cultural Imperialism, "smart" quotations - apps assisting by guessing, naturally. The mouse having a life of its own and the return of the cursor jumping back to the start of a line. Every. Single. Time. Hooray.
